- ...passport, globe, brochures!! She and Mr. Smith, the PE teacher are getting it on and planning a little getaway for Spring Break.
- Clever, she’s planning her cruise.
- I'm the one looking out the window. And when it's my turn I don't know the place.
- This was so me! Always staring out the classroom window, they used to call me cloud.
- I’m watching the fish in the tank and the birds outside…
- I sat all year looking out the window, wishing for spring.
- My teacher said that, after I finished my work, I would look out the window and “daydream”.
- "1960"? - and the central Kid with the book is wearing Jeans ? NEVER would have been allowed at MY Connecticut School.
in 1960 didn't know what "jeans" was.
- Growing up in Wyoming the boys all wore jeans. They were brand new at the beginning of the school year and by mid summer after school let out they all had iron on knee patches from playing in the dirt. Come the next school year and we had brand new ones again.
- Could be that was the last day of school and they relaxed the dress code?
- Last day...they wouldn't look so gloomy
- We could wear Bermuda shorts on our last school day!
- I grew up in a railroad town in New York State. Some boys only had one pair of nice pants and those were for church.
- In the ''60s, yes heels.
- I was in 5th grade then and Miss Balkus dressed beautiful and always wore high-heels. We girls thought she was so beautiful!
- Most young female teachers were so nice looking. Not anymore.
- That's about the year my teacher would read us a story chapter by chapter. Loved it. Got me hooked on reading. Discovered Frank Baum's series of Oz books. Found you could escape into another world when reading.
- I loved silent reading time!
- I hated to be called on to stand and read in front of class...but we all had to take a turn...
- I'm reading a Nancy Drew book behind the boring reader.
When schools were for education, not indoctrination.
